THE OFFICIAL VIDEO
This song is about re-connecting with so many of those distinct experiences and aspirations that come about as we observe Ramadan in the Greater Toronto Area, and really with large metropolitan cities anywhere in the world.
It’s a cover of an original song in Danish – “Ramadan i København” (Ramadan in Copenhagen) – that was written, recorded, and released by my dear brother Isam Bachiri in 2020. I loved the song, and I loved it even more when he suggested that I pen a cover for Toronto. Over the next few weeks, Sidi Isam was an insightful sounding board as I went through multiple drafts and rewrites of the lyrics. Dr. Faisal Haq Shaheen patiently laid down take after take of tabla until we got it just right. My wife and manager Bano’s suggestion made for the perfect ending to this song, and then Norm Sabourin did an outstanding job in translating the vision of the song into an auditory experience. I pray that you enjoy hearing it even more than we enjoyed crafting it with love.
THIS PROJECT IS INTENDED TO BE A SADAQA JARIYA* FOR ALL WHO PARTICIPATE IN IT, INCLUDING ALL WHO PURCHASE THE CD AND MP3.
As with other releases from First Spring Records, 100% of the revenues from this single (minus distribution costs) will be donated to a charitable project.
For this release, we’re really excited to be supporting Give 30, an initiative to fight hunger by supporting food banks in Canada and the United States during Ramadan.
Please recite the Fatiha** and send prayers on the Beloved Messenger (ﷺ) on behalf of everyone who has worked to bring this song to you.

SHARE THE PROPHET
Nader is committed to #ShareTheProphet (ﷺ) in word and deed. In a world with an increasing frequency of ugly representations of the Prophet’s pure and beautiful message, it is all the more important to openly exemplify The Prophet’s mercy (ﷺ), concern and generosity for all creation.
You can help Nader #ShareTheProphet by contributing to the production of his upcoming albums. Just click below and follow the instructions.
Usually production and distribution of independent albums is financed by investors who recoup their principal (plus a profit) via album sales. The album is in debt even before it’s recorded, and the entire sales and marketing strategy is governed by their return on investment.
In a radical departure from this model, in 2013 Nader embarked on a daring new endeavour bringing together service and devotion, by channeling 100% of his sales revenue from future albums into humanitarian causes. Seed funding for the album’s production is raised through individual sponsors, crowdsourcing and donations, which then allows Nader the freedom to channel 100% of sales revenue towards designated humanitarian causes. This way, Nader makes devotional art a powerful means of service for generations to come. In fact, by now songs from the recently release album WATER have helped raise over CAD$2 million for various charitable causes in the first 2 years after its release.
“My work has always been about bringing together devotional music and positive change – both in people’s hearts and in the world around us. We just hadn’t found a model that did both things justice … until now”.
